Paddling Essential Eligibility Criteria:
To participate in these events, all participants must meet the Essential Eligibility Criteria published by the American Canoe Association (ACA) . Please review and contact Northeast Passage with any questions you may have regarding your eligibility.
Kayaking Opportunities:
Northeast Passage offers participants the opportunity to explore local fresh and salt water areas. From the tidal waters of Little Harbor to Fundy Cove and beyond, Northeast Passage hosts several accessible group paddling opportunities in a variety of locations for people with a wide range of abilities. Northeast Passage has a fleet of kayaks, paddles and accessories for participants’ use in this program.

Northeast Passage offers a series of Paddleboard events during the summer months . We offer the opportunity to participate standing or seated.

Kayaking Skills Courses:
This is an opportunity for individuals who have significant mobility impairments to receive instruction in kayaking from expert instructors. Participants will learn how to compensate for function lost due to their disability and how to adapt the boat and paddle to best suit their needs. This course includes paddling instruction in a pool and paddling on calm waters with instructors.

Adaptive Paddling Workshop (APW)
Designed for instructors, outfitters, recreation program managers, trip leaders, rehabilitation specialists and those who want to include people with disabilities in paddlesport programs, Adaptive Paddling Workshops teach instructors how to compensate for a paddler’s loss of function due to disability and how to adapt equipment and instruction, focusing on the paddler’s ability.
Advanced Communications Workshop (ACW)
Designed for instructors, outfitters, recreation program managers, trip leaders, and all others who want to seamlessly integrate people with speech and language impairments, hearing impairments or deafness, visual impairments or blindness into paddlesports programs. Advanced Communications Workshops provide a basic understanding of disabilities that affect communication and provide a toolbox of knowledge, techniques, and strategies to enable successful integration.
