Northeast Passage VA Adaptive Sports Grant
We strive to create an open and welcoming environment for Veterans in all of our programs and Veterans from all eras and with any disability are encouraged to participate in this program. Most options are provided at no cost to Veterans & Members of the Armed Forces through funding from the United States Department of Veterans Affairs, the Bob Woodruff Foundation and Operation Hat Trick.

Adaptive Recreation & Competition:
Join Northeast Passage for any of our regularly scheduled Adaptive Sports & Recreation events or check out one of our competitive teams in sled hockey, quad rugby, or power soccer. There is a small fee associated with these events.
We also offer a number of Veteran “only” recreation events throughout the year. Join us, and other local Veterans, for group outings in cycling, Alpine skiing, deep sea fishing, rock climbing, Disc Golf or Fly Fishing (to name a few!). These events are offered at no cost to Veterans.
Interested in checking out adaptive recreation equipment? We rent all 500 pieces in our fleet. Explore the options here.

Community Based Recreation Therapy/PATH™:
This program is a health management program that uses recreation as a tool to improve whole life health. A Northeast Passage recreation therapist will set up a time to meet with you to go over your goals in your home and home community. Your Rec Therapist will work with you over the course of several visits to identify resources, equipment and opportunities in your area. This program is for Veterans & Members of the Armed Forces who experience a variety of disabilities, both visible and invisible.
Our program starts with YOU and your interests. We begin by asking the question “what do you want to do?” Every answer is as unique as the Veterans we serve.
For many, the answer is multi-layered. If the experience of disability has impacted the ways in which an individual engages in their recreation interests or their community, the results often ripple to all areas of life. As a result, the answers range.
“I want to…”
Be physically healthier
Connect with others who also like…
Share fun experiences with the people I love.
Challenge myself to know my limits and capabilities.
Find places in my community to be of service and use of my skills.
Find positive outlets for stress.
This program is all about ACTION. All meetings are about getting out and doing things, going places and meeting your individual goals around holistic health. Find more information on this program here.

*This program is made possible in part by a grant from The Bob Woodruff Foundation, which is dedicated to ensuring that post-9/11 injured service members, veterans and their families make a successful transition.
The mission of Northeast Passage is to create an environment where individuals with disabilities can enjoy recreation with the same freedom of choice, quality of life, and independence as their non-disabled peers.
