Northeast Passage is unique. Unlike most non-profit organizations, Northeast Passage does not have regularly scheduled volunteer opportunities. As part of the College of Health and Human Services at the University of New Hampshire, we are fortunate to have constant access to students. The majority of our volunteer spots are reserved for these students as a learning opportunity.
Northeast Passage does, however, seek volunteers who have a strong interest in a particular sport, particularly in the summer months. Volunteering through Northeast Passage allows you to be involved in an activity you love, while sharing that enthusiasm and knowledge with people who are looking to learn or get back involved in something they love.
To volunteer with Northeast Passage, take a look at Northeast Passage’s Volunteer Job Descriptions to determine the activities that best match your skills and schedule. Once you’ve made your sport selection, complete the form below. When your form has been submitted, you will receive an email with instructions to initiate a background check with the National Center for Safety Initiatives. Interested and committed volunteers are responsible for covering the cost of their background check ($20-$50 depending on the state you live in). A successful background check is required for volunteering with Northeast Passage. Background checks typically take about 10 days and are good for two years.
Once these steps are complete, you will begin receiving emails related to training and volunteer opportunities. Volunteers who commit to 5 or more events per-year will receive highly coveted NEP team schwag! If you have questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us.
