At Northeast Passage, all programs are planned and operated by trained, educated, professional staff.
On staff, we have eight Certified and Licensed Therapeutic Recreation Specialists (CTRS/L). As recreational therapists, we utilize the inherent benefits of sport and recreation in a purposeful way, empowering our clients to increase independence, improve skills, engage in community, develop social networks as well as set and attain personal goals.
We are pleased to offer our staff’s expertise and our extensive collection of adaptive equipment to your organization or company. “Contracting” takes on many forms – if you don’t see what you’re looking for here, please contact us, as we’re flexible and open to discussing many different models.
Similarity Awareness & Wheelchair Sports
As part of our commitment to teaching and education, we offer Similarity Awareness programming in schools and communities to foster a culture that is inclusive of people with disabilities. Programming is available for schools, town recreation departments, corporate groups, etc. This program is perfect for diversity day, team building and more!
Adaptive Sports & Recreation & Equipment
Have equipment, will travel! Utilize Northeast Passage’s equipment and staff expertise for your adaptive sports program. Northeast Passage can provide sports opportunities for your clients for any of the 12 sports we offer, at a location of your choosing. Examples of programs served include: Cycling for Maine Handicapped Skiing, CapeABLE Adventures, Gaylord Sports Association, Adaptive Sports for Spaulding Rehabilitation hospital, water skiing for the Wounded Warriors Project New York Adaptive Water Sports Festival and sled hockey for the Boston area VA.
Northeast Passage has contracted with hospitals, rehabs, summer camps, recreation departments, independent living centers, skilled nursing facilities, adaptive sports programs and other organizations – the possibilities are endless!
Volunteer & Instructor Training
Northeast Passage staff are nationally recognized for their expertise in a wide range of topics. We will provide training for your volunteers or instructors in any of the 12 sports we offer, plus many other topics. At our location or yours, utilize our equipment and staff expertise to enhance your programming and volunteer exposure.
Education no longer takes place solely in a classroom. More and more teachers and groups are accessing wilderness, beaches, bike trails, and other areas where access can become challenging. Use of adaptive equipment and specialized training may be necessary. Northeast Passage has the equipment and know-how to include students with disabilities in: Hiking, Alpine Skiing, Cycling, Cross-Country Skiing, Camping, Kayaking, Canoeing, Rock Climbing, Ropes Courses, and others.
NEP is available for trip facilitation or equipment rental and training for schools, Scout troops, town recreation departments, youth groups, etc. Do not let any student miss out on the educational and social benefits of a field trip!
Private Therapeutic Recreation Services
Northeast Passage will work with families and/or individuals with disabilities on personal interests, sports, proper fitness, and overall health. Individuals work directly with a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist to set and reach personal goals.
In-service & Speaking Engagements/Presentations
Information, professional training, disability awareness and activity modification, Northeast Passage can prepare and offer presentations on a variety of topics to meet the needs of your group or agency.
Northeast Passage staff and teams are available for special events such as fundraisers, exhibition events, appearances, etc. Contact us if you’re looking for a unique team builder, fundraiser for your school or large-group event.
Corporate or Program Consulting
Northeast Passage will consult with your company or program on disability related problem solving and physical accessibility.
